Metropolitan Opera Names Senior Radio Producer Mary Jo Heath as Company's New Full-Time Radio Host

The Metropolitan Opera announced today that Mary Jo Heath, who has worked as a producer and guest radio host for the company over nine seasons, has been named as the Met's new full-time radio host and will be the voice behind the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera Radio Saturday matinee broadcasts as well as the broadcasts that air each week on the Met's Sirius XM channel. 

Heath, currently the Met's senior radio producer, will be just the fourth full-time radio host in the company's history when she assumes her new role in September. The longest running classical music series in American broadcast history, the Met's Saturday afternoon radio broadcasts began in 1931 and have featured hosts Milton Cross, Peter Allen and Margaret Juntwait, who passed away in June. Heath's official tenure as the "voice of the Met" commences with the company's first Sirius XM broadcast of the season on September 21 with the Met's opening night performance of Verdi's Otellospacer
