Anna Netrebko Withdraws from February 19 Don Pasquale Broadcast

The Metropolitan Opera announced today that soprano Anna Netrebko has withdrawn from the Saturday, February 19 broadcast of Don Pasquale, because of illness. The matinee performance, scheduled for 1:00 P.M., will feature Australian soprano Rachelle Durkin as Norina.

Durkin was last seen at the company in May 2009 as Clorinda in La Cenerentola. The Perth-born singer was a Met National Council winner in 2001. She made her Metropolitan Opera debut in Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari's Sly in 2002.

Yesterday, Metropolitan Opera general manager, Peter Gelb, and music director, James Levine, announced the company's 2011–12 season information, which will feature Netrebko in a new, season-opening, David McVicar-directed production of Donizetti's Anna Bolena, and in the title role in Laurent Pelly's production of Massenet's Manon, new to the Met. spacer
